Tinting Laws for the State of Pennsylvania
At Mike Details, we abide by the various rules and regulations of the road when it comes to applying window tinting to any given vehicle. Because the rules are different depending on the size of vehicle that you own, we want to break down the percentages of both darkness and reflectiveness allowed in the state of Pennsylvania. This way, when the time comes to book your window tinting appointment, you can make an informed decision.
Beginning with tint darkness, Pennsylvania requires small vehicle owners to abide by a rule of 70% Visible Light Transmission (VLT). This applies to both the front and rear side windows, including a windshield strip and rear windshield. For larger vehicles, including trucks, vans, and SUVs, that 70% VLT rule applies to only the front side windows. The back windows and rear windshield of these larger vehicles can be as dark as any owner prefers without violating any state laws.
Now we move on to window tint reflectiveness. Because tinting has a natural element of reflectiveness, our state certainly allows for your package to be reflective in some ways. However, vehicle owners must only have window tinting that does not have a mirrored or metallic appearance. Essentially, they cannot have window tinting that has enhanced reflectivity at all for the safety of drivers on the road.
